In Loving Memory of Kristine L Johnson
August 3, 1955 - May 21, 2023
Early on the morning of Sunday May 21 2023, our Lord and Savior welcomed his beloved daughter, Kris, into his loving arms. She ran to him unencumbered by the disease and afflictions of this world. There are no more tears or sadness in her. We mourn the loss of her earthly presence and yet we rejoice for the inheritance that is hers in Christ.
Kristine Louise Johnson peacefully departed from the earthly home she had made with her best friend and husband of 46 years. While her physical presence may be absent, the memories of her joyful expression and love for her husband, children, children’s spouses, and grandkids will bring a smile to all who knew and loved her.
Born on August 3, 1955, to Kenneth and Beatrice Larson, Kris brought vitality and passion into every sphere of her life. Kris was the fourth of five children born to Ken and Bea: Bill, Barb, Tom, Kris, and Ann. Kris attended Wayzata High School where she was captain of the cheerleading squad and went on to become a Registered Nurse through Fairview School of Nursing, where she met her husband, Kevin Johnson. Kris and Kevin made a home for themselves in Plymouth, where they grew their family having five wonderful children Kevin, Kristofer, Kenneth, Kaari, and Kristian. Kris was always excited to cheer for her children and grandchildren in their various sporting endeavors. She enjoyed studying God’s word through Bible Study Fellowship and church Bible study groups.
Kris’s journey was not without its challenges, as she faced the daunting battle of dementia in the four-plus years leading up to her passing. Despite the hardships she endured, she continued to pray for safety and protection for her children’s families and remained strong. Though her brain and body gave way to illness, she remained committed to the singing of worship songs to her savior, even when her voice failed her.
Throughout her life, Kris was blessed with the unwavering support and companionship of her loving husband, Kevin. Their bond was a testament to the power of love and devotion, as they stood by each other's side. Kevin was not only her spouse but also her best friend, confidant, and steadfast partner through thick and thin. Leaning on their faith in Jesus they stood beside one another until Kris’s time was done here. The memories they created together will forever be treasured by those who witnessed the beauty of their relationship.
In addition to her husband, Kevin, Kris leaves behind a host of loved ones. Kris was survived by husband Kevin, and children Kevin (Allie), Kristofer (Amy), Kenny (Michelle), Kaari (Will), and Kristian (Vivian), as well as grandchildren Rosemary and Bennett (Kevin), Isabelle, Levi, Eden and Cailyn (Kristofer), Luke and Charlotte (Kenny), Freya (Kaari), and her beloved granddog and therapeutic companion Roxy (Kristian). Her memory lives on with siblings Bill (Joyce) Larson, Tom (Debbie) Larson, brother-in-law, Scott Anderson, Ann (Larry) Fowler, and many nieces and nephews. Kris is preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Beatrice Larson, and sister Barbara Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Parkers Lake Baptist Church, 14720 County Road 6 in Plymouth, MN on Thursday June 8 2023 at 11 AM. A brief visitation will be held at 9:30 AM for friends and family prior to the service. The family welcomes you to stay for a luncheon at the church prior to the interment at Acacia Cemetery, St. Paul, MN following lunch.
Kevin and family send their gratitude and love for so many who visited Kris in her last few weeks with us. As they mourn the loss of Kris, they rejoice in the hope of one day reuniting with her in heaven. Their hope is that everyone who knew Kris would know the love and grace that Jesus has for each one of them.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to mom’s favorite show The Chosen (https://www.comeandseefoundation.org/donate) or KTIS Radio Station.
